Claude was born in Altoona, Pennsylvania, and his family
moved to Baltimore, Maryland when he was eight years old.
He attended the University of Baltimore, and earned a bachelor's
degree in 1970, with a major in accounting and minor in sociology.
After working in the accounting field for a few years, Claude
answered God's call to ordained ministry and graduated from
Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1978. He also earned a Doctor
of Ministry degree from Lancaster in 1993. He served Christ
Church, Danielsville, and Hope Church, Allentown, over an
eighteen-year period, and was awarded the Allen S. Meck Award
for Excellence in Parish Ministry. He returned to Lancaster
Seminary to serve as Vice President for Development and Seminary
Relations in 1996.
Claude's wife, Donna, grew up in Wenham, Massachusetts and
was active in her hometown Congregational/ UCC church. She
lived in Maine for several years before moving to Pennsylvania
in 1984. She graduated from Cedar Crest College with a degree
in sociology. Currently, she works for IU13, teaching adults
who are preparing for their GED or learning English as a second
language, in a family literacy program located in an elementary
school in Lancaster city.
Claude and Donna enjoy spending time together, especially
gardening, walking and exploring new places of interest. Each
year, they look forward to visits to the ocean and seeing
family and friends. Claude has an interest in (passion for!)
cars.
Claude and Donna's blended family consists of four grown
children. The oldest, Claude's son Bannon, is married to Kim
and lives in Allentown, PA. The youngest, Donna's son Todd,
is married to Ashley, and they also live in Allentown. Todd
and Ashley have two children, Sadie (4 yrs) and Shawn (2 yrs),
who bring Claude and Donna the great joys of grandparenthood!
