Sunday School

Hummelstown UCC has a very active Sunday School program for both children and adults. Sunday School meets each Sunday from 9:15 to 10:15 , between our two worship services. Sunday School is an important part of the overall Church experience for everyone, not just children. Not only do we learn more about Jesus and the Church, but it provides an excellent opportunity to establish close ties with other members.

The children's program consists of:

•	nursery (ages infant through 3)
•	kindergarten (ages 4 -5)
•	grades 1 - 2
•	grades 3 - 4
•	grades 5 - 6
•	Jr./Sr. High school

The nursery and kindergarten usually open together with a time of singing before they split into their groups. The grades 1 - 6 usually close the Sunday School hour by gathering together for a time of singing. The Jr./ Sr. High school class participate in the opening worship with the adult classes.

There also is a computer lab that is utilized by the children on a rotational basis. The computer lab is set up with various programs specifically designed for the age group for that particular week.

The adult program consists of two classes. Both classes open together, along with the Jr./Sr. High school, in a 15 minute worship service. After the opening service, the people split into the smaller classes. One of the adult classes usually focuses on the standard UCC lectionary, with mostly lecture and occasional discussion. The other adult class usually is mostly discussion about a specific topic or book chosen by the group. The discussion can last anywhere from one week to several months, depending on the topic. It is intentionally designed that you need not have attended prior weeks to get something out of the discussion.

Occasionally, throughout the year there are special programs presented and all the adult and Jr./Sr. High school classes stay together for the entire hour.
